Marrakech – The President of the International Criminal Police Organization (ICPO-INTERPOL), Major General Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi praised on Monday in Marrakech Morocco’s unwavering support for international security, stressing that the Kingdom, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, is a recognized model of openness and cooperation in security matters.

Speaking at the opening of the 93rd session of the INTERPOL General Assembly (November 24-27), Major General Al-Raisi expressed his deep thanks and gratitude to His Majesty King Mohammed VI for his support towards ensuring the success of this international event. Highlighting Morocco’s assets and its ancestral history, where Amazigh, Arab, Andalusian, and African cultures intersect to shape a melting pot of diversity, he noted that the Kingdom continues to shine as a bridge between East and West, North and South. This 93rd session of the INTERPOL General Assembly “is not only an annual forum for dialogue, but also a platform for strengthening international cooperation in the field of policing and security, enabling us to outline a vision for the future of this organization,” he added, noting that this session also provides an opportunity to review achievements and adopt a joint security plan for the next five years. Presenting a report on the achievements of his mandate, marked by the modernization of the police work system and the techniques used in INTERPOL operations, the strengthening of information exchange mechanisms, and the consolidation of trust between member States, Major General Al-Raisi focused on the great success attained in the field of data exchange. He emphasized that these mechanisms had played a decisive role in the success of the Organization’s work. In this regard, he cited the celebration of the 10th anniversary of INTERPOL’s Innovation Center, a “fundamental pillar” of digital and cyber innovation development, noting that this structure has enabled the organization, over the past decade, to bolster its capacity to support law enforcement agencies and enable them to address complex threats and anticipate future risks. “INTERPOL is embracing a culture of innovation today,” he said, noting that this is the first time in history that the General Assembly is being held entirely in digital format. INTERPOL Secretary General Valdecy Urquiza praised the Kingdom’s “great support” for INTERPOL, “both through hosting this General Assembly and being a very active and committed member country” in the Organization’s activities. “On behalf of INTERPOL and the entire law enforcement community here today, we would like to thank Moroccan authorities for their invaluable support,” he said in a statement to the press. Over four days, participants will discuss law enforcement priorities such as cybercrime, the fight against criminal organizations, and organized and emerging crime, he added. The General Assembly, which kicked off on Monday in Marrakech attended by senior officials and police chiefs from INTERPOL’s 196 member countries, will examine major global crime trends, including dismantling cross-border criminal networks, combating international scam centers, strengthening global police capabilities, and promoting the role of women in policing. As Interpol’s supreme governing body, the General Assembly is the largest global gathering of law enforcement leaders. It provides an opportunity for member countries to build relationships and share experiences.
