Speaker of the House of Advisors, Naama Mayara, stressed, Tuesday in Rabat, the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening bilateral relations between Morocco and Ukraine and deepening understanding and dialogue between representatives of the peoples of both countries. According to a statement by the upper house, Mayara reiterated, during his meeting with the ambassador of the Republic of Ukraine in Rabat, Oksana Vasilieva, the firm determination and unwavering willingness of the components of the House of Advisors to consolidate the distinguished relations of friendship and parliamentary cooperation between the two countries. Mayara also focused on the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, deepening understanding and dialogue between representatives of the peoples of the two countries and in the rapprochement and convergence of views and opinions on many bilateral and multilateral issues, the statement added. On this occasion, he welcomed the friendly nature of relations between Morocco and Ukraine, which have been further consolidated, as well as the depth of cultural and human ties that unite the Moroccan and Ukrainian peoples. Mayara also recalled the position of the Republic of Ukraine on the issue of the national cause, which is to find a negotiated, just and lasting political solution to the question of the Moroccan Sahara. For her part, Vasilieva congratulated Mayara on his election as speaker of the upper house, while wishing him every success in his duties. She also stressed the importance of the role of the Ukrainian-Moroccan Parliamentary Friendship Group within the two legislative institutions to give a strong impetus to relations between the two countries. Other topics were also discussed during this meeting, including the opening of Ukrainian universities to Moroccan students, the major role that private actors in both countries can play in boosting trade and the importance of promoting cultural exchanges in order to consolidate bilateral relations, as well as opportunities to improve tourist flows from Ukraine.
