Rabat – A meeting was held, Friday at the headquarters of the Ministry of Interior, with representatives of local authorities, devoted to raising awareness of the importance of completing the vaccination scheme, especially the booster dose, for the fight against covid-19. The meeting was notably attended by head of government, Aziz Akhannouch, minister of Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit and minister of Health and Social Protection, Khalid Aït Taleb. This meeting was an opportunity to commend the success of the measures taken by the Moroccan authorities to stem the spread of the pandemic and to highlight the mobilization of representatives of local authorities to raise awareness of the importance of vaccination as the only solution to achieve herd immunity and gradually return to normal life. In a statement to the press after this meeting, Akhannouch stressed the importance of mobilizing local authorities to raise awareness among the population on the imperative to complete the vaccination scheme, by ensuring to take the first two doses for non-vaccinated and the booster dose for vaccinated, to safeguard the well-being of citizens and achieve herd immunity, which remains the only solution to revive the economic activity and achieve social development. The head of government stressed, in this regard, the role of representatives of local authorities, given the important role they play at the local level to educate citizens on the importance of respecting health measures and adhere to the vaccination campaign, especially since the vaccine has proven its effectiveness in reducing the number of deaths due to Covid-19.
