UK Defence Senior Advisor to Middle East and North Africa Received by Minister Delegate in Charge of National Defense Administration and FAR Inspector General

UK Defence Senior Advisor to the Middle East and North Africa, Air Marshal Martin Elliot Sampson, was received, Monday in Rabat, upon High Royal Instructions, by the minister Delegate to the Head of Government, in charge of National Defense Administration and by the Lieutenant General, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and Commander of the Southern Zone. According to a statement issued by the FAR General Staff, upon High Royal Instructions, Mr. Abdeltif Loudyi, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government, in charge of National Defense Administration, received, Monday at the headquarters of this administration, UK Defence Senior Advisor to the Middle East and North Africa, Air Marshal Martin Elliot Sampson, who was accompanied by Mr. Simon Martin, ambassador of the United Kingdom in Rabat and the Attaché of Defense at this embassy. On the same day, and upon High Instructions from His Majesty the King, Supreme Commander and Chief of FAR General Staff, the Lieutenant General, FAR Inspector General and Commander of the Southern Zone received the UK official at the headquarters of the FAR General Staff, in the presence of senior officials of the FAR General Staff, the statement adds. During these meetings, Moroccan and British officials welcomed the historic and excellent relations between the two Kingdoms in several areas and reaffirmed the need to deepen and expand bilateral cooperation in the areas of defense and security to include, in particular, the defense industry and cybersecurity. They also reviewed the results of military cooperation between the Armed Forces of the two countries and the opportunities to strengthen and deepen this cooperation. For his part, the UK Defence Senior Advisor to the Middle East and North Africa welcomed the role of Morocco as an important player in regional stability and the multidimensional reforms launched by the Kingdom of Morocco in various sectors, thanks to the clear-sightedness of His Majesty the King. He also commended the convening of joint military commissions which meet regularly in Rabat and London in order to make the most of the opportunities offered by cooperation, in particular the development of the interoperability of forces and the exchange of experience and expertise between the two Armed Forces. The visit of Mr. Martin Elliot Sampson to the Kingdom of Morocco is part of the consolidation of Moroccan-British military cooperation, which is governed by a Framework Agreement for Military and Technical Cooperation and an Agreement on the Status of Forces, the statement points out.
