Morocco Participates in 23rd Interpol Police Training Symposium
The 23rd Interpol Police Training Symposium, organized by the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) began Monday at the Naif Arab University of Security Sciences in Riyadh, with the participation of 450 experts and specialists in security and law from several countries, including Morocco. The Kingdom is represented at this event by Younes Nafid, professor of criminal law at the Naif Arab University of Security Sciences and Mohamed Ali Haidas of the same University. Haidas told MAP that the symposium will discuss, during three days, the mechanisms of training of law enforcement agencies after the COVID-19. It will also be an opportunity to review the difficulties and successes, as well as best practices that have marked the pandemic period. It will also highlight the importance of the ability to adapt to future emergencies, and follow global developments in the field of digital policing training, methods and issues. The symposium includes several panels, focusing on digital leadership, adapting to modern technologies in the field of law enforcement training and cyber challenges facing online training programs and applications, he continued. The first day of the symposium will feature a presentation of Interpol’s 2022-2025 capacity building and training strategy, a review of international experiences on how to respond to emergency scenarios and the development of flexible mechanisms to adapt to future emergencies. It also includes a review of efforts by members of the Interpol Global Academy network to create and develop security capabilities. On the second day, the event will discuss training techniques between the present and the future, examining the digital transformation of training at Interpol, in addition to mechanisms to achieve sustainability in the field of police training, and the vision of the Center for Cybercrime and Digital Evidence at the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences on building cybercrime capacity in the Arab region. Finally, the symposium will review its work and outcomes, and issue a set of recommendations that can help law enforcement agencies apply best practices in the field of police training and capacity building. This biennial symposium is aimed at executives from national, regional, and international organizations involved in building police skills and capacity. It was hosted by the Naif Arab University of Security Sciences within the framework of the strategic partnership between this University and Interpol to contribute to the fight against crime and the achievement of international security, through the implementation of a set of joint scientific programs, training and research.
